I have cruised with Silversea in the Mediterranean, the Arabian Gulf and most recently in the South China Sea. While the ship I was on, the Silver Shadow, was not one of their new expedition ships, my trip was still quite the expedition. Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia, Brunei, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Thailand. Every day was exotic and exciting. I cruise for the destinations. And this itinerary was one of the most unique in the travel industry.
For me the ultimate luxury is time to explore on land and then time to reflect and write about them while onboard. Silversea provided both. Onboard, a series of fascinating lectures about the destinations prepared me with knowledge of each port and the broader history of the region. Meals could be as fancy or as informal (24 hour full room service included) as you wish. Shore excursions, whether group or as I often prefer, private car and driver, were expertly managed.
In short, Silversea ticked all my cruising boxes, exceeded my expectations for luxury cruising and left me planning my next adventure onboard. Thank you.
